Inspiration for this project comes from family heirlooms - glass bowls which have been passed down through generations in my family as well as photographs of the people who have previously owned these items, reinforcing the connection between the items and the people that transform an ordinary item in to something personal, with great sentimental value. Striking and iridescent colours in the translucent glassware influenced my decision to use monofilament yarn with hand-dyed silk. The warp was then manipulated by hand to create a more personal piece with flowing lines running throughout, echoing the shapes and lines in the glassware.
